KNOWING ALLAH & HIS RIGHTS UPON US

The first and foremost required Etiquette from a Muslim is to Know Allah, His Rights & The Muslim’s Etiquettes with Him S.W.T. So In Sha Allah we start the course with Knowing Allah and His Rights. Allaah is the Arabic word for “one God”, the same as Eloh in Aramaic. Allaah is not the God of Muslims only. He is God of all creations, because He is their Creator and Sustainer.

Knowing Allah

The best way to know Allah is by His names and He has 99 Beautiful names. Narrated Abu Huraira : “Allah has ninety-nine Names, i.e., one hundred minus one, and whoever ‘ahsaha’

[enumerates them, believes in them, ponders their meanings, worships Allah by them
and supplicates with them, and acts by them according to one’s belief in them]

will enter Paradise.” Sahih Muslim and Bukhari 8:419, We studied the names in our Tawheed class.


RIGHTS OF ALLAH: –

  1. Believing that “None has the right to be worshipped but Allah” “La Illaaha Ill Allah” & having Tawheed
  2. ‘Ibaadah (worship)
  3. Shukr (gratitude, giving thanks)
  4. Having fear and hope
  5. Loving Allah


    THE QUALITIES THAT ALLAH LOVE
  6. Tawbah (Repentance)
  7. Taharah (Purification)
  8. Taqwa (Piety)
  9. Ihsan (Goodness & Perfection)
  10. Tawakkul (Trust in Allah)
  11. Qist (Justice)
  12. Sabr (Patience)
  13. Kindness
  14. Humility of the Rich
  15. Loving someone for the Sake of Allah
  16. Continuous Performance of Righteous Deeds
  17. Good Manners and Conduct
  18. Dua

THE QUALITIES THAT ALLAH HATES/DISLIKES

  1. Israaf (extravagance)
  2. Istikbaar (Pride)
  3. Zulm (Evil, wrongdoing)
  4. Ifsaad (Mischief-making)
  5. Publicity of Evil
  6. Obscene words and acts
  7. Corruption
  8. Betrayal
  9. Exultance for Worldly Desires

THE ETIQUETTE OF DU’AA

  1. Tawheed
  2. Sincerity towards Allaah alone in making du’aa
  3. We should ask of Allaah by His most beautiful names
  4. We should praise Allaah as He deserves before we call upon Him
  5. Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ
  6. Facing towards the qiblah
  7. Raising the hands The palm of the hand should be raised heavenwards, in the manner of a humble beggar who hopes to be given something. Hands Should be kept together without a Gap between them
  8. Having certain faith that Allaah will respond,
  9. Asking frequently
  10. He should be firm in his du’aa
  11. Beseeching, humility, hope and fear
  12. Saying du’aa’s three times
  13. Ensuring that one’s food and clothing are good (i.e., halaal)
  14. Saying du’aa’ silently and not out loud
  15. Doing good deeds and asking Allah by one’s good deeds
  16. Making du’a for others
  17. Memorizing the Authentic Supplications and du’as of the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him)
  18. Asking Allah in times of ease

TIMES & PLACES WHERE DUAA IS ANSWERED

  1. Laylat al-Qadar
  2. Du’aa’ in the depths of the night, the time before dawn
  3. After the final Tashahud in the Prayers
  4. Between the adhaan and the iqaamah.
  5. When the call for the prescribed prayers is given and when the ranks are drawn up for battle
  6. When rain falls
  7. A certain time on Friday. (Between Asr & Maghrib)
  8. When drinking Zamzam water1
  9. When prostrating
  10. When hearing the crowing of a rooster
  11. When saying the du’aa’, “Laa ilaaha illa anta, subhaanaka, inni kuntu min al-zaalimeen

The Prophet ﷺ  said: The prayer of Dhu’l-Noon (Yoonus) which he said when he was in the belly of the whale: ‘Laa ilaaha illa anta, subhaanaka, inni kuntu min al-zaalimeen ([none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allaah)], Glorified (and Exalted) be You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]! Truly, I have been of the wrongdoers.’ No Muslim recites this du’aa’ concerning any matter but Allaah will answer him.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi

12. Du’aa’ for one who is sickThe Messenger of Allaah ﷺ  said: When you visit a sick person, say good things, for the angels say Ameen to whatever you say…” Muslim (919)

13. The du’aa’ of a father for his child, the du’aa’ of a fasting person and the prayer of the traveler

14. Du’aa’ after the sun has passed its zenith and before Zuhr

15. Du’aa’ when going to bed at night
